New Volkswagen Tiguan 2025 Review

Despite battling tough compact SUV competition every year, the Tiguan remains at the top of the class in terms of technological content and ride quality; it is also reasonably priced. However, a middling powertrain and questionable cabin ergonomics could be enough to derail it.

Our spies spotted it being tested and it looks as though the third-generation model will overcome the shortcomings of the previous SQ5 by being longer and sharing the VW Group’s MQB platform with the Audi Q3.

Interior

Volkswagen’s five-passenger two-row Tiguan SUV is an excellent choice for those families on the go because its spacious cabin come loaded with an impressive variety of standard tech features, and it offers a ride that’s comfortable and easy. However, we were not impressed with the powertrain and didn’t like its controls much either because they were extremely distracting.

The way to do that – VW hopes – is by overhauling the Tiguan from the wheels up, with more stretched-out proportions and relying on the same long wheelbase of its three-rows-of-seats Tiguan Allspace sibling that debuted in Europe last year.

On the inside, there’s that big touchscreen for infotainment and, um, stuff. You can poke it around while you’re parked to make changes, but while in motion, trying to poke touch-sensitive switches might not be as easy; you’re forced to look to your button instead of being able to use feel to navigate between two or three sometimes more buttons that can be typical for all other models. On some selections, massaging front seats—and head-up displays—also come with the new Tiguan. Panoramic sunroofs and fake perforated leather upholster seats are bonuses attached to the higher end SEL Premium R-Line models.

Technology

Volkswagen’s first-rate family-sized SUV, the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan, blends sumptuous refinement with state-of-the-art technology, delivering a driving experience that is sure to be as fun as it has ever been.

Ambitious off-road driving, however, is made easy by the Tiguan’s pleasing ride and faithful handling. Its four-wheel drive (badged as 4Motion) is well-suited to light off-road use, while there are multiple engine power outputs and fuel-economy scores for you to pick from.

These buyers would certainly be advised to choose the hybrid version – which is fitted with a conventional combustion engine as well as an electric motor. In certain markets, Volkswagen is considering selling the ID Buzz as an EV only.

Safety

With its long list of standard and optional saf¬ety features, the 2025 Tiguan is a sensible choice for buyers whose top priority is a safe vehicle. A rearview camera, blind-spot monitor, and cross-traffic alert should help drivers navigate city traffic; the additional equipment provided on the higher trim levels will include adaptive cruise control and lane-departure warning.

With all-wheel drive 4Motion for superior off-roading, the 2025 model can go over bumps and through slippery conditions while keeping its composure. The ride and handling are just right for light trails – never jarring or jostling.

An eco-minded 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan, with its plug-in hybrid powertrain, might be one of the greenest options in its segment The 2024 Volkswagen ID Buzz, slated for release next year: the driving range on its 82kWh battery is an impressive 62 miles (100 kilometres), which can be boosted to that level in roughly 40 minutes using a DC fast charger at a public station – roughly equivalent to the 62-mile driving range that the 2025 Tiguan will have if it gets the available 62kWh battery pack.
